In Loving Memory ~

Jessi Marie Connaughton (Witt), born January 3, 1978, died in a tragic accident August 1, 2023.

She is survived by her sons Braedy (18) and Johnny (14), parents Mike and Julie, brother Mike, sister-in-law Jessica, nieces Ryleigh and Ava, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jessi grew up in the Comox Valley and made many lifelong friends at Robb Road and Highland schools. After finishing high school she moved to the mainland to attend Simon Fraser University, where she completed her B.A. in Archeology. During this time she travelled to field schools in Fiji and Tonga, as well as an eight month term at the University of Auckland, NZ.

After having her boys Jessi trained as a postpartum doula. She dedicated several years to supporting families needing compassion and care in the face of postpartum depression. In more recent years, she worked as a minute taker, attending meetings across Canada. She particularly enjoyed working with the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan and forged strong friendships with their leaders.

Jessi was a much loved daughter, sister, aunt, friend and neighbour, the list goes on.

But, above all, her happiest times were spent with her sons. Braedy and Johnny were the light of her life and her love for them was unconditional. She loved going to concerts, having a martini with Mum, going kayaking with Dad, walking with her little dog, Bella.

Her bright blue eyes, her beaming smile and infectious laughter brought joy to all around her and she will be sadly missed.

Details for a celebration of life will be decided later on. Should you wish to help out Braedy and Johnny please consider donating to the Go Fund Me page set up for them. https://www.gofundme.com/f/jessi-connaughton-witt
