November 1, 1979 - July 1, 2024

In loving memory ~

Our family is devastated to share the sudden and heart-breaking loss of Janice Hart (Craven) on July 1, 2024, due to natural causes following a critical medical incident.

Janice was born in Victoria on November 1, 1979 and moved to Happy Valley (Courtenay) in 1989. She was the beloved mother to Cale (Lanaisa) and Lillian, precious daughter to David and Susan Craven, cherished sister to Brent (Kim) and Colby Fisher (Mike) and nephew Connor. Janice held a special place in the hearts of Grandma Barbara Craven, Step-Grandfather Cecil Gould, and her extended family across Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. She was predeceased by grandparents Bill Craven, Ben Domoney and Sheila Gould.

After graduating from Vanier in 1998, Janice spent several years in Alberta near her sister Colby before returning to the Comox Valley in 2000. It was there that she met Mark Hart, with whom she had two wonderful children, Cale and Lillian. Although her relationship with Mark ended, Janice made a significant life change by joining the Canadian Military in 2014. She excelled as an RMS Clerk stationed at 19 Wing in Comox, proudly serving for six years before pursuing further education upon her honourable discharge.

Janice discovered a passion for camping and exploring Northern Vancouver Island with her beloved dogs, Nyla and Stella, named after her favourite camping spot.

In 2022, Janice spent 4 weeks with her mom exploring Ireland and fell in love with travel even more. She excitedly returned to Dublin this past February as a solo traveller for a month. Upon returning home, she was brimming with inspiration to create beautiful art and plan future journeys. She eagerly anticipated her son Cale's upcoming wedding to Lanasia Parsons in June 2025.

Janice was a devoted mother whose love and pride for Cale and Lillian was immense. Janice also played a very large role in Lanasia's life, caring for her like one of her own. Her warmth, infectious laughter with a smile that would light up a room, and vibrant spirit touched everyone who knew her, leaving an unforgettable impression on their hearts.

Janice's family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating her life at an open house at Fallen Alders Hall, located at 3595 Royston Road, Courtenay, on Sunday, July 14th from 2-4 pm.
