Ashcroft - James “Jim” of Courtenay, formerly of Campbell River, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 7, 2002, age 71. Predeceased by his parents in England Jim is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Ethel and by his sons; Alan (Jan) Ashcroft of Comox, David (Christine) Ashcroft of Campbell River and Michael Ashcroft of Edmonton, Alberta. Also, by his seven grandchildren: Padan, Janel, James, Melissa, Jessica, Steven and David and by his brother Alan (Betty) Ashcroft of Billingham, England and by his niece and nephews in England.
Jim came to Canada in 1957, lived in Ontario, Manitoba and in New Zealand before coming to Campbell River in 1974; retired from Elk Falls Mill in 1995 and moved to Courtenay in 1996. He enjoyed darts, lawn bowling and snooker and recently enjoyed singing with Nova Voce Men’s Choir and he loved all the time he could spend with his family. Special thanks to all the doctors and staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their care.
