James Delong Watt aged 82 died peacefully at home on March 6th, 2006 with his beloved wife Viola at his side.

“Jim” showed tremendous courage, will, grace, humour, wit and compassion to all who visited and cared for him throughout his last week. Jim was born in Innisfail, Alberta on June 20th, 1923. He had a long career in banking both in B.C. and Alberta. Jim’s passion was hockey, playing and coaching in his earlier years and remaining an avid fan for life. As a member of the Royal Canadian Navy Jim served in the North Atlantic on a corvette during WWII. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion receiving his 20 year pin last year. Jim is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife, the love of his life, Viola and her seven children, twenty grandchildren and three great grandchildren all of whom grew to love and respect Jim for his self and his tender, sweet love for “Vi”. Jim is survived by his own three children - Bud (Tedi) of Victoria, David (Shirley Ann) of Vancouver, Elizabeth (Shaun) Bissonette of Edmonton, five grandchildren; T.J., Court, Alexa, James, Jordon and one brother Bob (Lynn) Watt of Red Deer, Alta. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to: Palliative Care Program, c/o Seniors, Home and Community Services, 941 - A England Avenue, Courtenay, B.C. V9N 2N7 or to the charity of your choice. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 11th at 1:30 P.M. at St. Peter’s Church, 218 Church Street, Comox B.C. Refreshments will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion at 1825 Comox Avenue, Comox, B.C.
