Jim died at home in Courtenay on August 1st, in the arms of his wife Carol, surrounded by love and respect. Born in Victoria, raised in Vancouver, Jim was a fisherman and iron worker by trade, a passionate rose cultivator, reader and golfer by choice.

Generous of spirit with the gift of an easy laugh, Jim brought joy to all in his orbit, a friend to many, an enemy to none. His word was gold. He is survived by his wife Carol, mother Jean Fontaine, in-laws Peggy and Tom Price and stepchildren Correne and Ricky Cayer, who adored him. Memorial Service August 7, at 1:00 pm., Courtenay Legion, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Mexicana Pub. (Gifts or donations to the BC Cancer Society).
