Creaser, Jack William
It is with intense sadness that we announce the passing of Jack William Creaser to be with our Father in Heaven, on November 23rd 2005, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on November 5th, 1944 in Hathern, England, he will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Survived by his beloved wife Betty Lou, who nursed him so devotedly, their son Jared, and his stepchildren Emily, Carla, Brian, Lance and Gavin. Also survived by his sons Kevin, Ian, Steven, Phillip, their families, and their mother Kathleen; his sisters Barbara Galvin (Don,deceased) of Pickering, Ontario, Janet Potter (Alan) of Leicestershire, England, Sandra Gill (Peter) of Victoria, and twin sister Jill Langan(Peter) of Loughborough, England and their families.
His parents, John (Jack) Creaser, Barbara Dodsworth Creaser, and his precious daughter Katrina predeceased him.
Jack deeply felt the responsibility to take care of his family; many long hours as a millwright at Elk Falls would be followed by equally long hours at his little farm. He took pleasure in tinkering with his tractor, repairing cars and the crummy, and enlarging his home for his expanding family; Jack defined himself as a worker. Able to fix almost anything, Jack enjoyed teaching others to be independent, and never hesitated when he could be of service.
Strong-willed and opinionated, Jack never hesitated to set the record straight; an incredible asset in the many years he spent involved with the CEP Local 1130 Union. He was determined to do what was right, no matter what the cost. A loyal man, he made firm friends who were able to voice their love, appreciation and respect during the long months of his illness.
Playing his beloved euphonium, along with many other instruments, over the years, Jack made countless friends. Music was such a huge part of his life, and when he first got sick, he would regale his visitors with his favourite pieces. His rich, resonant voice became weaker, but his spirit was strong and courageous.
Faith in our Savior’s love helped Jack with the terrible burden of leaving his young son, Jared; Jack took comfort in the knowledge that he will be with his family again. Giving of his time, talents and energy doing church service was so important to Jack, and he gladly worked wherever he was needed. Jack served as the first LDS Bishop in Campbell River when a Ward was established there, and delighted in the growth of the congregation through the years. He and Betty Lou encouraged music appreciation and participation within the church congregation, leaving a legacy of Campbell River becoming known as the “singing ward.”
A Celebration of Jack’s life will be held on Thursday, December 1st at 1:00 pm. At The CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINT, 460 Goodwin Ave., Campbell River, BC. In lieu of flowers donations toward an education fund for the minor children, the Comox Valley or Campbell River District Bands or the Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
