Ware, Jack Edward
1918 ~ 2003
Jack passed away peacefully at Nanaimo Hospital on August 25, 2003 at the age of 85.

Jack came to Canada, as an infant, in 1919. His parents settled in the Dove Creek area on 27 acres of logged land. Jack was the eldest of 8 children raised here on this small family farm.
During the war Jack served on a minesweeper out of Halifax, HMCS Esquimalt. The ship was torpedoed, on April 16, 1945, and sank. Only about 1/3 of the men survived 7 hours adrift in the frigid waters.
Jack was a logger and an avid hiker for his entire life. He was an active member of the Island Mountain Ramblers, and loved to take groups into our local mountains.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. No funeral by request.
