Swain - Irene of Comox (formerly of Campbell River) passed away peacefully in St. Joseph’s Hospital ECU on Wednesday, May 15, 2002, age 81.
Predeceased by her parents Charles and Ann Robertson, her brother George and her sister Mary, all of England. Survived by her loving husband Cliff, to whom she was married for 56 years, sons: Randy Swain of White Rock, BC, Milt (Marion) Swain of Comox, Brent Swain of Royston “Global Sailor”; daughter Valerie (Angelo) Santinelli of North Vancouver and her granddaughters Stephanie (Jason), Gina (Philippe), Ginger (Mike), Laci, Nicole, Samantha, her grandson Jason (Jennifer) and great grandsons Dion and Matthew and great granddaughter Michaela.
Also survived by her sister-in-law May Robertson, her son Stanley Robertson, nephew Peter and niece Elizabeth and their families in England. Irene is also survived by three stepbrothers: Charles, Ray and Don, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Irene and Cliff raised their family in Saskatchewan, moved to Campbell River, and helped run the Sequoia Springs Golf Course. She enjoyed her garden and fishing outings with her girlfriends and all the time she could spend with her family.

A Celebration of Irene’s Life Service was held Sunday, May 19th, at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME and CREMATION SERVICES, 1101 Ryan Road, Courtenay, BC. The Reverend Ray Brandon officiating. The service was followed by fellowship and refreshments in the “Garden Room and Outdoor Patio” of the funeral home.
