Smith - Ida Mary (nee: Nowlan) passed away on February 16, 2002 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Ida was born in Pokemouche, New Brunswick on January 21, 1911 and raised with love. In the mid-sixties, Ida, her husband Randolph and her step-son, Ivan moved to Campbell River and ten years later, after Ivan’s death, they built their home in the Merville area. Randolph died two years later but Ida carried on working and taking in boarders. After retiring in her seventies, Ida lived a contented and independent life at her home in Merville until a week before her death. She will be fondly remembered by her friends in the Comox Valley and her relatives in the U.S.A. and New Brunswick. By Ida’s request there will be no formal services held. Her ashes will be placed next to her husband in the Campbell River cemetery.
