Harold Shearer Smith MacIvor, passed away peacefully, September 1st at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Predeceased by his parents and nine brothers and sisters, he is lovingly remembered by: Sister Bernice MacIvor of Calgary; his wife of 59 years, Marjorie, of Comox; daughters: Claudia (Stuart) Hartman & Joan (Stephen) Bennett; son George (Madeline) MacIvor; seven grandchildren: Juli (Jim) Bennett, Susan Hartman, David (Stacey) Hartman, Motion MacIvor, Sarah Bennett, Elizabeth Bennett, Matthew Bennett; one great grandchild, Jamie Bennett and another great grandchild expected this week.

Harold was raised in Calgary, Alberta where, after senior matriculation, he enlisted in the army. While stationed in Victoria he met Marjorie and they were married prior to his posting to England during the war. After the war he graduated with a degree in law from the University of British Columbia, articled, and then opened a law office in Courtenay where he practiced for 46 years before retiring in 1995. He was a past president and member of the Courtenay Rotary Club for over 50 years.
