1922 ~ 2003
Harold Cresswell, known by many as “Agie”, was born February 3rd, 1922 in Great Ayton, Middlesborough, England and passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, December 13th, 2003. Harold came to Canada with his parents and siblings in 1926, settling and farming in the Dove Creek area where he steadfastly remained on the family farm he loved so much.
He met and married Muriel White on June 10th, 1949; they had one child, Charlyene. He worked in the logging and construction industry and always enjoyed his animals, farming and his abundant garden. Harold was predeceased by his wife Muriel in November 1973 and recently by his longtime companion Kay Hamling in June 2003, his parents Sidney and Edith, his brothers Arthur, Bill and Stanley, his sisters Betty and Winnie.
He leaves behind to treasure his memory his daughter Charlyene, son-in-law Jardy and granddaughter Amara Olson, his brother Eric Cresswell, sisters Elsie Hames and Norma Farmere, numerous nieces and nephews and members of Kay’s family.
Harold will be remembered as a tenacious, hardworking, family man, who loved his daughter and granddaughter very deeply, always feeling a need to protect them. One of his greatest pleasures was the time he spent on his farm entertaining family and friends. A Service of Remembrance will be held at PIERCY’S FUNERAL HOME, 440 ENGLAND AVE. on Thursday, December 18th, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. with a tea to follow. For those wishing, donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the B.C. Lung Association. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to PIERCY’S FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM.
