In Loving Memory ~

Our dear Gwendolyn Lou Adams (nee Fitch) of Courtenay BC, passed away peacefully, with her husband of 68 years, Roy, by her side.

She was born to her late parents Ida and Crawford Fitch on June 20th in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Gwen spent her early years on the farm in Shellbrook and then in PA. She graduated high school from Prince Albert Collegiate Institute.

Gwen got her degree in nursing at Holy Family Hospital in PA and moved to Yorkton to work. Three months later she returned to PA as she missed Roy and on November 26, 1955 they married in Prince Albert.

Gwen and Roy moved a number of times. From PA to Saskatoon, where they welcomed their daughters Kristie and Karrie, to Edmonton, where they welcomed their son Jack, to Calgary and then to Vancouver. Roy took a promotion at Molson Brewery and Gwen took her job as a corporate wife very seriously and became a fantastic life long hostess.

Gwen was the last of five children and admitted to being just a little bit spoiled. She had a wonderful childhood on the farm and in PA where she loved school and was a pretty good athlete, especially playing basketball.

Gwen was a wonderful wife and mother, these two things were her greatest joy. As a family we spent holidays in Saskatchewan, the Okanagan, and Hawaii. These family trips were the times Gwen loved the most.

Gwen and Roy moved to Crown Isle Golf Course in Courtenay in 1996 and proceeded to make many wonderful, supportive life long friends.

Gwen is survived by Roy, her husband of 68 years, her children Kristie (Glen), Karrie (Mike), and Jack (Penny), by her most loved six grand children and three great grand children, and her sister Betty Fleming. Our wife, mom, grandma, and little grandma will be truly missed.
