Gade, Guenter Egon “Gus”
Gus of Courtenay passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 9th, 2004, following a lengthy illness. He was predeceased by his daughter Genevieve Gade and is survived and will be lovingly missed by his wife Pauline Tardif; stepsons: Pascal Ducharme (Jennifer Kostiuk) of Edmonton and Chris Ducharme (Sandy Johnson) of Millet, Alberta; stepgrandson Levi Johnson; his brothers and sisters in Germany; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Nicole Poulin (Lucien) and other in-laws in Quebec. Gus was well-known as Courtenay’s downtown “Santa” for 7 years and for his work as chef at the Lorne Hotel for 5 years. Special thanks to the Lion’s Club, Cancer Society, Red Cross, the Home Care Nurses, Home Support Workers and Dr. P’Tak. A Memorial Mass will take place on Monday, August 16th at 9:00 am from Christ The King Roman Catholic Church with Father Joe Killoran, celebrant. Fellowship and refreshments will follow in the church hall. COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM, 1101 RYAN ROAD, entrusted with arrangements.
