1927 - 2004

Passed away peacefully on March 7th with his wife and two youngest sons at his side.

Predeceased by his mother, father and stepmother, sisters: Pat, Millie, and brother Wayne. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Trudy; daughter Becky (Peter) Manning; sons: Michael (Leslie), John (Jewel), Owen; his grandchildren: Greg, Heather, George, Trevor, Kimberly, Kevin, Luc, Sean and Jennifer; also sisters: Elaine, Iris, and Anne; and brothers: John and Ted.

Greg was born in Innisfail, Alberta, the family moved to Wawanesa, Manitoba when Greg’s father was stationed at Camp Shilo. After the war Greg came to B.C. with his family and worked logging for a few years before coming to Courtenay in 1953 to work in his dad’s tire shop. He went to work for MacMillan Bloedel, Kelsey Bay in 1968 and was there 22 years until he retired. Greg was a kind, caring man, a friend to everyone and always cheerful. He had suffered for many years from asthma and eventually emphysema but never complained and kept his cheery disposition and sense of humour.

A service celebrating Greg’s life will take place on Saturday, March 13, 2004 at 1:00 PM at Piercy’s Funeral Home in Courtenay. A reception will follow in the funeral home Glacier Tea Room.
