CALLANDER, GRAHAM ROBERT May 17, 2002, surrounded by love, Graham left this earth to wait for us, with his mother, in heaven. Graham is survived by his wife and best friend, Anne; father Alex, sister Sandra who meant the world to him, daughter Sarah (Paul) and son, Bradley. He was proud of his children and loved them with all his heart. He also leaves his dear niece Michelle (Randy), Anne’s parents Alan and Phyllis, his step-daughter Sara (Randy), and grandson Luke who shared Graham’s wonderful imagination and love of fantasy. Missing him as well is his precious Kharma.
Graham had the gift of great curiosity and interest in other people. He never let the challenges he was facing get in the way of truly enjoying this world and every person he met. He had a huge heart and great courage and took as much pleasure as he could from every day. His last few weeks were spent treasuring sunny hours in his garden and planning a summer wedding to celebrate the lifetime of friendship and the recent years of love and joy that he and Anne shared and cherished.
Graham and Anne were blessed with wonderful doctors and nurses and extend their gratitude to Dr. Rene Weir, Dr. Chris Jones, Dr. Hillary Wass, to all 4South staff, to Carol from RP1 and, especially, the wonderful nurses who became our friends, our community and our place of safety, at both the Hillside and RJH dialysis units. Thanks also to Nurse Michelle, Dan Pimlott, Leslee Laban and Linda Verhagen who were our angels of support and care and Pastor Peter who gave Anne and Graham the comfort of blessing their union. His very best friends Larry, Rob, Sue and Barry brought great golf, good fishing, much laughter and tremendous joy to his life. He loved this life and stayed with us as long as he could.
Private family service to be followed at a later date by a celebration of Graham’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Vancouver Island Kidney Patients’ Association (VIKPA) (P.O. Box 5145 Postal Station “B”, Victoria, BC V8R 6N4) would be welcomed.
