Grace passed away at Glacier View Lodge in the early hours of Saturday, October 18th, at the age of 88. Predeceased by her parents Wilfred and Daisy Hardy, first husband James McKie, her son Robert McKie, brother Jack Hardy, and her husband Reginald Pidcock. Grace leaves her daughter Ann (Fred) Medway; daughter-in-law Gwyneth McKie; grandchildren: Barb (Steven) McArthur, Janis (Mike) Cross, Steven (Melinda) McKie, Rodney (Vanessa) Forsman, Darryl (Cathy) Forsman; as well as 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Grace was an outgoing, animated life of the party, and will be remembered for her love of a good joke. Grace and Reg loved to camp, and her fondest memories were of the summers spent camping and fishing at Kitty Coleman with good friends. Her nickname Mayor of Kitty Coleman stuck for many years. After Reg passed away Grace moved to Abbeyfield House, and then to Glacier View Lodge. The family would like to thank the staff at both facilities for making Grace welcome and comfortable in her last years. Service of Remembrance to be held Friday, October 24th at 1:00 pm in the Chapel at Piercy’s Funeral Home, 440 England Ave., Courtenay. PIERCY’S FUNERAL HOME in charge of arrangements. Flowers gratefully declined, if so wished donations to charity of your choice.
