Mason, Gordon L.

Of Fanny Bay, born September 21, 1915 in Nanton, Alberta, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Comox, on Monday, February 2nd, 2004, aged 88. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife Nancy; sons Peter (Helen) of Courtenay, Bob (Merri) of Abbotsford and Matt of West Vancouver; grandchildren Tim, Mike, Laura, Mariesa and Rebecca; sister Phyllis Gouge of Victoria as well as nephews Mike (Barbara) Gouge of Quadra Island and Ted Gouge (Florence Roberge) of Salt Spring Island. Gordon grew up in Drumheller, Alberta and served with the Canadian Army in England from 1942 to 1946. Upon his discharge he resumed operations of Brammall - Mason Garage in Courtenay (1936-1950), then Mason Motors in Campbell River (1950-1972). He was Past President of the Campbell River Rotary Club and Past Chairman of the Campbell River Hospital Board. In his leisure, Gordon enjoyed working outdoors with a wheelbarrow, his old truck and tractor. He was a kind and good natured man who loved his family, friends, his community and Canada. A gathering of family and friends in celebration of Gordon’s life will take place on Saturday, February 7th, 1 p.m. at Sequoia Springs Golf Club, Campbell River. His family would like to express their thanks to the B.C. Ambulance Service and the staff at St Joseph’s Hospital for their care and kindness.
