Gordon J Ellison

September 5, 2005

Ellison, J. Gordon

Dec 3, 1936 - Sept 5, 2005

An entrepreneur from the age of five, self-taught and successful in all he did, workaholic Gordon Ellison

passed away fittingly on Labour Day. His cheerful dignity, love of travel, fascination with First Nation’s art, dry wit, and enjoyment of being with and observing people impressed all who knew him.

Gordon came to the Comox Valley in 1976 and established an automotive business before beginning a very successful career as a Realtor in 1989. He loved his grandchildren and regular excursions to the casino in Nanaimo where he usually withdrew more than he deposited.

Gordon was a member of the Comox Freemason Lodge #188.

Gordon was loved and respected, and will be missed by his wife Marianne and his blended family of Katherine (Murray) of Delta, Robert (Melissa) of Courtenay, Patrick (Vicki) of Victoria, Tony (Elana) of Hawaii, Teri (Jeff) of Victoria, and his grandchildren Taylor, Vaughan, Aidan, Brendan, Keanna, Shamus, Chelsea and Forrest.

A Celebration of Gordon’s life will be held at the Comox Valley Funeral Home, 1101 Ryan Road, Courtenay, on Friday, September 9th at 3PM, the Reverend Ray Brandon officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Gordon’s memory to the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation for the Chemo Therapy Unit, 2137 Comox Avenue, Comox, BC, V9M 1P2

Gordon’s thanks go to those healthcare professionals who assisted his longevity in the battle against cancer but particularly to the late Dr. Bob Clarke who initiated his treatment.
