Glen Victor Hughes

December 1, 2004

Hughes, Glen Victor

Glen passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 1, 2004 while hospitalized at the West Coast General Hospital.

Glen’s devoted Christian faith provided him with strength to endure and cope with the myriad of incredible challenges he was dealt in his short life time. He was a devoted and loving husband and father and his profound sense of responsibility towards his children, gave him the will to go on in spite of his seriously compromised state of health in recent years. Glen was born on January 29, 1957 in Comox, BC and was a resident of Courtenay while growing up. After graduation Glen moved to Port Alberni where he continued to reside until his passing. Glen was a valued employee at the MacMillan Bloedel plant and later Pacifica Papers in Port Alberni prior to being diagnosed with cancer. Glen was predeceased by his father, Harry Gordon Hughes (July 1973) and is survived by daughter Jessica Hughes; son Graham Hughes, adoring grandson Mattias Hughes, his devoted and loving mother Georgina Dorothy Hughes; and father Hank Grobowsky; and his loving sister Cauleene Pollock; and brother Wayne Hughes; sister-in-law Dagmar Hughes; stepsisters: Mrs Traci Gray, Mrs. Lisa Stregger, Mrs. Patti Leigh, and Mrs. Glenda McLean and their families. Special thanks to all the doctors and nurses who showed such genuine sensitivity and provided such consistently dedicated care for Glen and provided such profound support for family members while Glen was hospitalized at St. Paul’s Hospital (Vancouver) and the West Coast General Hospital. Special thanks to Glen’s dearest friends Brian and Evelyn Bradbury who were so attentive and caring towards Glen and his children during Glen’s lengthy illness.

Memorial Service will be held 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 11, 2004 from the Chapel of Memories Funeral Home, 4005 - 6th Avenue with Rev. Henry Schade officiating.
