Gerry was predeceased by both of his parents, his son Lee, and by two brothers: Merle and Ronald. Gerry is survived by; his loving wife Careth, son James, grandson Peter, step-son Joe (Sandra) Gelinas, sister Myrna (Russ) Bennett, brothers Eugene (Joan), and Charlie (Marilyn) and by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Gerry served in the Armed Forces from 1952 to 1979. He was a Para Rescue Tech from 1960 to 1979. Para Rescue was a very important part of Gerry’s life. He was at his best when he was helping others through rescue operations or minor things like fixing lawn mowers for friends and neighbors. Gerry was always one to help and asked for nothing in return. Gerry also drove cement truck until 1990 after leaving the Armed Forces. He was also a very active member of the Auxiliary Coast Guard in which he was given a lifetime membership. Gerry was an avid curler for many years and has made many friends and acquaintances over the years. He will never be forgotten.

A memorial Service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Comox on October 6, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers; donations can be made to the Para Rescue Association, PO Box 3816, Courtenay, BC V9N 7P2. Arrangements have been entrusted to Piercy’s - Mt. Washington Funeral Home, Courtenay, BC
