Walker, Garth Ronald
1948 - 2006
Garth was born in Vancouver, B.C. on August 5th, 1948 and died in Comox B.C. on January 2nd, 2006 after a 16 month battle with cancer. He came to the Comox Valley at a young age, grew up here and graduated from Courtenay High School. Garth had an interest in mechanical things from a young age and never lost interest. After High School Garth attended B.C.I.T. in Burnaby and completed a 12 month training program in aircraft maintenance in 1970. He had a special interest in helicopters and spent several years in northern Canada. Later he was involved in helicopter logging in the forests of the Pacific Northwest. Garth also took training in waste management and worked in the start-up and early stages of our regional sewage plant. Garth was predeceased by his father Ronald Walker and is survived by his mother Genevieve Walker of Comox and his sister Barbara (Millar) Farewell of Lakewood, California. After a long association with this community he will be missed by his family and multitudes of friends. Arrangements entrusted to COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIUM, COURTENAY, B.C. A Memorial Service will take place at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, 218 Church Street, Comox with Fr. Jim Lyster officiating on Thursday, January 12th, 2006 at 1:30 P.M.
