In her 88th year on Saturday, July 17, 2004 at Sunshine Lodge in Campbell River. Predeceased by her husband Donald Harvey McDonald, and sisters Patricia Arnold and Lillian Moncrief. Survived by brother Jack (Alma) Ballard and brother-in-law Orval Moncrief as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews. Also survived by daughter Sharone Elizabeth; son Donald (Penny), grandson Scott (Sophie), great-granddaughter Portia and grandson Joule. Betty was born in Port Moody to Ina and Percy Ballard and raised in North Vancouver. In the sixties she moved to Vancouver Island with her husband Don, who retired from Burrard Dry Dock. Betty and Don lived at Buckley Bay and Union Bay prior to Don’s death. Later Betty moved to Comox, then to Courtenay and Campbell River before returning to Courtenay. A special thank-you to all the doctors and nurses at Comox Hospital and Sunshine Lodge who kindly cared for Betty during her many illnesses. No service by request. Cremation. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association, B.C. division, 1200-1111 Melville Street, Vancouver, B.C. V6E 3V6 would be greatly appreciated.
