Mackenzie, Evadne

Mom passed away with quiet dignity and peace on February 11, 2004. She was surrounded by the love of family, friends and the loving gentle hands of so many wonderful nurses at St. Josephs.

She was predeceased by a wonderful husband, father and grandfather Malcolm Montgomery (Curly) MacKenzie. She is survived by her daughter Joan Carson, granddaughter Jennifer Carson, Sister Sue MacGregor and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Special thanks to Caroline Armstrong and Tress Backhouse for their tender care and unconditional friendship, and to Russ Hammond whose unspoken words and silent strength gave peace and graciousness to our journey.

My mom was a grand lady and the matriarch of a wonderful family. Everyone loved her and found peace and serenity in her words of comfort and encouragement. She was a pioneer in business and paved an exemplary road for women in management. Her quiet contributions to the community will long be remembered. But more than her many accomplishments during her working and retired years, my mother was a great philanthropist and lover of gardens, beautiful landscapes and poetry. It is these artistic and creative sides to her personality that I so loved and will miss the most.

A celebration of life was held on Saturday the 14th at D’Esterre Seniors Centre.

“We are all better people
