Koons, Ernest Harley
1928 ~ 2005
Harley passed away on Friday, February 18, 2005 at St. Joseph’s General Hospital in Comox after a long struggle with Parkinson’s and more recently with cancer. He is survived and will be forever missed by his wife Toots, daughter Karin, brother Bob, grandson Kris, and many relatives and friends; predeceased by his son Konrad in 1977.
Harley was a pilot in the RCAF from 1953 until his retirement as Captain in 1973. He continued his flying career in Edmonton, Fort St. John and Vancouver until retiring with his wife and his sailboat to Campbell River in 1991. He and Toots moved to Courtenay in 2003. Harley enjoyed travelling and researching family history, loved to walk the neighbourhood dogs, was active in the First Open Heart Society of Campbell River, and was a great husband and Dad.
A Celebration of Life will be held at COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM, 1101 RYAN ROAD, on Monday, March 7, 2005 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, BC Parkinson’s Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
