Emily Tenisci

Apr 24, 1922 - Jan 11, 2003

It is with great sadness that I announce the sudden, but peaceful passing of my wonderful mother, Emily Tenisci on January 11, 2003 at 80 years of age. She was born April 24, 1922 in Abbotsford, the 5th of 6 children born to Italian immigrants. After finishing school, she became a seamstress and worked in a Bathing Suit Factory for several years. Then she met and fell in love with Fred Tenisci, an Italian immigrant. After marrying in 1945, the couple moved to Trail, where Fred was employed as a Shift Boss at Cominco Mining & Smelting Company. Together they raised 10 children.

After all her children were out on their own, Mom took up bowling and travelling with friends. She also made an annual solo trek to visit all her children and grandchildren.

In 1995 Mom suffered a traumatic head injury in a car accident while visiting relatives in Italy. Life as she had known it came to a halt. She had an amazing recovery, but was still not well enough to return to her home. For the last 7 years she resided at Kiro Manor, a nursing home in Trail, where she had been a volunteer for several years prior to her accident.

Mom was predeceased by her parents, her 5 siblings, her husband Fred, two daughters: Dolores and Teresa, and 3 infant grandchildren. She is survived and will be lovingly remembered by her sons: Leonard of Vancouver, Ron of Kamloops, Ray & Fred of Trail; daughters: Mary Cassidy of Kamloops, Loretta Semple of Comox, Louise of Ladysmith, and Christine Pineault of Kelowna; her sons and daughters-in-law; her 23 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Also remembering her fondly are her many relatives and friends in Italy.

Emily’s Memorial Service will be held in Trail on Thursday, January 16 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Trail, B.C.
