July 28, 1942 - October 24, 2023

In loving memory ~

Marie left the Comox Valley in 1967, following her husband Roy's military career. Military postings gave a small-town island girl the opportunity to travel across Canada and back a few times. Marie left Vancouver Island, moving to Quebec, Nova Scotia, Alberta, Holberg, Winnipeg, and Germany - just to mention a few places. Reflecting positively on her experiences as a military wife, Marie and Roy returned to the Comox Valley after serving over 30 years, where they retired.

After retirement, Marie enjoyed reconnecting with family and childhood friends in the Valley. She relished family get-togethers at Kitty Coleman Park - a longtime family gathering place. She cherished intimate times and celebrations with people she was close to, especially the times around a campfire with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family members. Simple, easy time spent together.

Marie appreciated and took pleasure in relationships with her close friends. Whether going out for lunch, a shopping date, a trip to Mexico, or a quiet evening in, she delighted in sharing many hours and good times with her friends.

Marie is survived by daughters Debbie Kennedy (Kevin & Christopher), Tracy Lynn (Danielle), son Ken Carson and wife Stacey Martyn (Clayton & Alisse), as well as great-grandchildren Jacob, Karter, Angelina, Fiona, Brantley, and Georgia; brother Jack Lafond, sister Judy Pebernat. Marie is predeceased by parents John & Ellen Lafond, husband Roy Carson, son-in-law Ronald Kennedy, and grandson Darcy Prince.

Services will be held November 25, 2023,1-3 pm, at Aaron House Christian Fellowship at 2946 Kilpatrick Ave, Courtenay, B.C.

Marie had a genuine tenderness for the people of our community. She deeply valued the efforts and commitment of St. George's United Church's SONSHINE LUNCH CLUB. In light of this, the family kindly requests that, instead of flowers, donations be made to the lunch program at the church, specifically known as SONSHINE LUNCH CLUB.
