Elizabeth longtime resident of Courtenay, BC passed away peacefully at her home. Elizabeth was born in Brandon, Manitoba and lived for several years in New Westminster prior to arriving in Courtenay in 1948.
The fourth of eight children, she is survived by her brother Bill Snider (Florence); sister Julie Treleaven; daughter Joanna Walda (Ed); granddaughters: Lisa Murphy (Shawn) and Sheila Walda; great-granddaughter Sierra Murphy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Charles “Chick” Bolton and her son Charles Edward Bolton.
In the 1950’s she and her husband, along with other relatives, operated the “Riverside Laundry” which was located near the 17th Street bridge. For a good portion of her life, Liz was an active member of the CWL having joined their ranks in 1949, working diligently with the organization until age and failing health caught up to her in her 80’s. She shared her grass-roots wisdom and ever positive attitude with her numerous visitors and family members to within hours of her passing.
Elizabeth died with the dignity and grace that she prayed for in her declining years. Prayers will be held at Christ The King Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 22 at 7:30 pm, with the Funeral Mass being held on Thursday, October 23 at 1:00 pm, Father Alfonso Valeza Celebrant.
