With great sadness, we announce the passing of Elizabeth (Betty) Thomsen on September 10, 2024, in Comox, BC. At the age of 85, she left us peacefully with her loving husband holding her hand.

Daniel and Elizabeth Wilson brought Elizabeth into this world on June 08, 1939, in Glasgow, Scotland. Where she grew up with her twin brother Danny and younger sister Sandra.

Betty moved to Canada in 1968 with her husband, James Hartley, and her two sons, Steven and Russell. She was proud to become a Canadian citizen and called Vancouver home.

Betty had a career as a seamstress specializing in Swiss embroidery, then worked for the Yellow Pages, where she retired in 1999.

Betty soon moved to Comox, where she met Tom Thomsen, and they married in 2004.

Betty found immense joy in her hobbies. She was a generous donor to charities, a seasoned traveller, and a skilled bridge player who achieved the status of life master. Her time with her sorority sisters was always cherished, and her passion for life was truly inspiring.

Betty is survived by her husband, Tom Thomsen, her two sons, Steve and Russell Hartley, their wives, Terry and Lisa, and her stepsons, Tim and Darrin Thomsen. Betty is "Nana" to Danelle, Justine, Jamie, Cole, Pierce, and Paige. Betty also leaves behind her lifelong friend and sister-in-law, Joyce Wilson.

Betty's service will be held at Piercy's Funeral Home in Courtenay, BC, on September 21, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.
