August 20, 1926 - December 2, 2022
In loving memory ~
On a snowy December 2nd, 2022 our mom Eileen Zilkie peacefully passed away with family by her side at the Cumberland Lodge.
Eileen was born in New Westminster on August 20, 1926. Eileen's family lived in various places throughout B.C. growing up. She enlisted in the Army during WW2, after the war she met and married our dad Bill Zilkie, eventually moving to the Comox Valley. In time they built their house on 17th Street, where they lived for 63 years, raising four children along the way. Their house was always filled with company and the coffee pot was always on. Mom loved travelling and saw many parts of the world.
Eileen loved camping, fishing and hunting trips. There was always a laugh around the campfire. She was an amazing baker, liked canning and kept her house spotless. You could always see her sitting at the kitchen table drinking coffee watching the soccer games.
Mom was always a character, family and friends alike could always expect to have a good laugh when around her.
She lived in her house until she was 94. Sadly she broke her hip and had to move into the Cumberland Lodge. We would like to thank the staff for the care they gave to mom.
Eileen was predeceased by her parents Flossie and Ralph Kenny, brother Ralph Kenny, sister Audrey Brown and husband Bill Zilkie (2012)
She is survived by her children Larry (Rose), Elaine (John), Ron (Rhonda), Doug (Linda, deceased), 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
There will be no service by request.
We will always love and miss you mom.
