RISPIN, Eileen A. passed away peacefully in St. Joseph’s Hospitalon May 15, 2002. She is survived by her husband George; step-daughters Susan and Rosemarie; and many friends of long-standing.
Eileen was born in Vancouver in 1921, the daughter of George and Maud Reed. The family moved to Comox in 1945 and in 1948 Eileen married her first husband, Robert Embleton. They moved to Powell River in 1954 where they operated a retail jewellery store. Returning to Comox in 1961, they owned Comox Jewellers on Comox Avenue until Robert’s death in 1974. Eileen and George married in 1980 and spent 22 happy years together, living in Courtenay, Little River and finally Comox.
Eileen had a 40 year association with Jobs Daughters, both as a member in Vancouver and as an adult when she played the piano and assisted in their various functions in Courtenay. Her knowledge of bookkeeping and finance led to Eileen serving for 10 years as a director of the Filberg Lodge Association, which was a consuming interest in her later life.
