Schiller, Edward Michael “Duke”
a resident of the Extended Care Unit of St. Joseph’s Hospital, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 30th, 2005, at age 81. Predeceased by his wife Bernice, Ed is survived by his sons Gordon (Gloria) and Noel (Barb); grandson Lucas and sisters Mary (Bob) Vogt and Julie (Arthur) Matter. Duke served with the RCAF during World War Two, attached to the RAF second tactical. He then became an air traffic controller for 27 years and moved to the Department of National Defense where he spent 13 years. Ed was a member of the Sergeant’s Mess, 888 Wing, royal Canadian Legion, Comox and was active with all pertinent Masonic-related Lodges in the Valley. In his leisure, he enjoyed golf, fishing, fly tying, hiking, gardening and model aircraft. A Service in Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held on Wednesday, September 7th at 2:00 pm from Branch 160, Royal Canadian Legion, Comox, with The Reverend Maggie Enwright officiating.
