Gone on an Extended

Fishing Trip

Ted will always be in our hearts and minds. He was my “Boy Next Door’, and those stories do work.

Devoted husband, father, friend and dedicated fisherman.

Ted leaves behind his loving family, wife Erna who misses him dearly, sons William (Leanne) of Victoria, Thom (Julie) of Campbell River, Julia (Mark) of Campbell River and Josh of Campbell River. Ed was often accompanied on his fishing trips by his four-legged buddy Tiffany, however his other buddy Daisy only went when Mom went too, as Daisy has yet to get her sea legs. Ted won’t get to see his first Grandbaby, but everyone will surely fill the baby with wonderful stories of Granpa.

Ted was predeceased by his father Fred of Vancouver, two years ago and his mother Verna, sixteen years ago.

He leaves behind his brother Robert, sisters Sharon (Jim), Denise (Grant) and Rosalee (Ben). Many nieces and nephews, Katie, Jennifer, Brittany, Lauren, Sydney, Mitchell, Devon and of course, cousin Bill.

All of Erna’s family will miss him dearly. Mom, Alice Welch, Carolyn (Peter), Charlene (Shawn), Ernest, Robert (Tracy), John (Bonnie), Leila Michael and Tim. Berna-Ann (Heinz), predeceased by Uncle Willy, Kevin (Susan) Robert, Lee and Samantha, Susie (William) and Guelda. Many nieces and nephews, Suzie (Al), Lee (Brandy) Dana and Leroy, Laurina (Chris) Jesse, Brandi (Paul) Jamie, Kyla, Jerrimie (Darla) Kyra, Joey, Bobbi-Jo, Dillon, Jason and Brian.

If we have forgotten anyone please forgive us, there are so many people that Ted held in his generous heart.

Ed will be remembered for his extraordinary salt water sport fishing ability in the Campbell River area. Ed maintained meticulous records showing nearly 4,000 fish landed over a ten-year period, the majority of which he released. Ed was a conservationist that never kept more than he could use.

Ed was a dedicated Ministry of Transportation employee for the past 27 years. As a Project Supervisory, one of Ed’s most memorable projects was overseeing the completion of the Inland Island Highway.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM, October 15, 2003 at the Salmon Point Marina, 2176 Salmon Point Road, Campbell River.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Ed Ryan Bursary Fund, Campbell River Community Foundation, Box 734, Campbell River, BC V9W 6J3
