Ed and his siblings were orphaned in 1928. The two youngest children were adopted but Ed and Leonard went to an orphanage and later lived and worked on separate farms.

Ed served in the Airforce from 1942 - 1946, part of which was overseas. He married in 1953.

Ed loved music in any form, early in his marriage he started his own band and would play for dances around the country. He played many instruments: accordian, piano, harmonica and guitar and sang as well.

Ed worked in forestry but as his family grew to 5 children he went to work in the post office and was there until his retirement.

There was a divorce around 1970 and Ed came to Courtenay alone in 1972. A year later Ed met Mary - their love of dancing brought them together. His love of music took the form of dancing and they enjoyed square dancing, round dancing and ballroom dancing and they joined the Old Time Fiddlers, Branch #17, where Ed played but mostly danced.

Ed loved animals and his garden and was always puttering in his workshop. He was a happy man, with a smile for everyone. He started a collection of music boxes and loved to go to garage sales looking for them. At age 80 he took up golfing and was able to enjoy it for a year before he was diagnosed terminally ill. He fought his battle with courage and little complaint. He will be sadly missed by all of us, Mary and Family.

Viewing and Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 17th, from 10:00am to 10:45am from Comox Valley Funeral Home & Crematorium, 1101 Ryan Road, where Funeral Services will take place at 11:00am with The Reverend Neil Lemke officiating. Interment will follow at Courtenay Civic Cemetery.
