Edward Dwain Moortele

January 15, 2006

Moortele, Edward Dwain

Dwain was born February 7th, 1943 in Vancouver, B.C. He passed away suddenly in Yuma, Arizona on Sunday, January 15, 2006. He was predeceased by his brother Eric, mother Betty, and his father Tafe. Dwain will be sadly missed by his wife Pat, his daughters Kelly (Rob), Erin (Harv), Jamie, and his partner Maureen Holmes. The grandkids Tyler, Mitchell, Josey, Hailey and Cam will all miss their Papa. Maureen’s family Debbie (Trevor), Darryl, Shae-Lynn, Travis, and Siara are also feeling the loss. Dwain leaves behind his loving nephews Rick, Dennis (Candice), Terry (Kathy), Allan (Lisa) and many extended family members.

Dwain spent his youth and early adulthood in Port Moody making many lifelong friends including Gordon, Bob, Bill, John, Russ and Linda. In 1964 Pat and Dwain were married. In 1980 he and his family moved to 150 Mile House to start his own business as a carpenter. His time in the Cariboo was spent working hard and fishing at every opportunity. (How many of us actually saw his “Secret Lake?) He remained in the Cariboo raising his family and working hard in the carpentry field until 2002 when he semi-retired to Courtenay, BC. While in Courtenay he met his loving partner Maureen. He was rarely seen outside the company of his beloved dog, Mac. Dwain spent the last few years working a bit, traveling, fishing and enjoying life.

Dwain was a wonderful man, with a great sense of humour. He took great joy in hanging out with his grandkids, riding the tractor, fishing, or cruising in the hot rod. He was always up for any kind of social event and was the life of the party. “Tony” will be sadly missed at the Macauley Lake Derby.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held at 2:00pm January 28, 2006 at the Miocene Hall, Horsefly Road, 150 Mile House, BC. An additional service will be held in Courtenay at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation to your local SPCA would be appreciated.
