Hutton Edna (nee: Watson)
Edna passed away peacefully in Victoria on Friday, April 12, 2002 at the age of eighty-seven. She is predeceased by her husband John (Jock) and her brothers Henry and Jack Watson. Edna is survived by her daughters: Gail Ross (Ron) and Brenda Simmonds (Rick); as well as grandchildren: Brian Ross (Tina), Karen Trimmer (John), Erin Simmonds, Katie Simmonds, and Greg Simmonds; and great grandson Quinn Kuschel-Ross. She also leaves her sister Kay Watson and brother Lee Watson (Tom). Edna’s life was focused on the two things that she loved most - teaching and her family. She had a rich career in education in the Comox Valley, beginning as a teacher at a school on Minto and finishing at Courtenay Elementary. Through her years as a teacher she touched the lives of hundreds of children, inspiring them to reach for their dreams. Edna also held her family dear and loved nothing more than being together with them. She treasured each family member and was greatly loved by all in return. At her request there will be no service but the family will gather to honour her at “the beach house” where each has so many wonderful memories of times with her.
