Savoie, Edmond Joseph “Ed”
Of Comox, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Monday, April 21st, 2003, peacefully, with his close family present. Predeceased by his wife Melanie, his sons Edward and Gabriel, grandchildren Jason and Gordon, as well as each of his brothers and sisters, Ed is survived by his loving family, daughters Dalila (Ozzie) Legere, Necia (Seppo) Paananen, Dora (Alvin) Russell, Leida Gerhardt, Onelda (Gary) Sullivan, Elva (Colin) Rhead and Noella (Howard) Davies; son Norman (Rose) Savoy; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Ed served with the Canadian Army Service Corps during World War Two, as a cook. A plumber by trade, he semi-retired to the Comox Valley from Vancouver in 1974, but continued his work until full retirement in the early 70s. Ed was a member of Branch 160, Royal Canadian Legion, Comox and in his leisure, was an avid fisherman and hunter, who was extremely creative, good with his hands and enjoyed building many things. Funeral Service will take place from COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 1101 RYAN ROAD, on Friday, April 25th at 11:00 am with Father Joe Killoran, officiating, followed by fellowship and refreshments in the “Garden Room” of the funeral home. Private internment will follow at Courtenay Civic Cemetery. A memorial service in his honor will be held at Branch 160 RCL, Comox, on Friday, May 2nd at 2:00 pm.
