Glen was born in Richmond BC to Audrey and Earl Hooge and raised in the communities of McCreary and Thompson Manitoba.
Left to Cherish Glen's Memory are soulmate Colleen Boudreau, his loving Children:
Son, Todd, Grandson Devyn, Daughter, Tanya, Granddaughters, Cassie, Chloe, Mataya, Kaiya,
Great Grandsons, Brandon, Phillip, Ki-Manni, Xander. Brothers, Grant (Darlene), Greg, Sisters, Lori, Lois (Ian). Numerous Nieces and Nephews. He was predeceased by his Parents.
Following his Family history of Service to Canada, Glen joined the Princess Patricias's Canadian Light Infantry in 1964 and was posted to Soest Germany for 5 years. Glen possessed a keen knowledge of War History and was very proud to have served on many Honour Guards at War Memorials in Europe. After returning to Canada he was deployed to Cyprus on a 6 month UN tour.
In 1973, Glen transferred to the Airforce as an Air Observer, receiving his AESOP Wings in January 1974. He accumulated 7800 flying hours on the Argus, Aurora, Tracker and SeaKing Helicopter. Retiring from the Regular Forces in 1995, he then joined the Air Reserves employed with the Air and Sea Cadet summer programs. Glen fully retired in 2014 having Served Canada for 46 years.
In 1995 Glen joined the Vancouver Island Society for Adaptive Snow Sports (VISAS) program on Mt Washington. This life enhancing opportunity became his Winter passion, volunteering for 22 years providing ski instructions to individuals with Physical and Intellectual challenges. In 2007 the Society decided to provide a similar programme for Canadian Forces ill and injured personnel. Glen offered to research and initiate the course, and was the organizer for the first few years, which was very self gratifying. This programme continues today.
Glen was a very kind and compassionate man, always willing to lend a hand. He had a great sense of humour and quick wit, he enjoyed regaling his numerous stories of his many adventures. He loved to cook and entertain friends with his culinary delights. He enjoyed skiing, golfing, camping and travelling. Glen volunteered at 888 Wing as Sgt at Arms and Tuesday maintenance.
Thank you to Dr Mierzewski, Drs and Nurses at CV North Island Hospital, and the Ambulance First Responders for your excellent care. To the CV Home Care Palliative Team, Thank you, you are special compassionate professionals. Also to Dr Mcgee and staff at the Royal Jubilee in Victoria. Thank you to devoted friends, your visits and phone calls certainly brightened Glen's days.

A Celebration of Life with Poppy Service will be held at the 888 (Stocky Edwards) Wing RCAFA 1298 Military Row Comox BC on 19 August 2023 at 2 pm.
