In Loving Memory ~
Our beloved mother passed away peacefully on June 8th, leaving 'heart prints' all along her journey in life. Born in the city of Dublin, Ireland, in 1931, she lost both her parents, Rose (nee Smith) and John Farrelly by the time she was 16 and was sent to her Auntie Anna's to attend finishing school.
There, she learned to type (certified 100 wpm) and do stenography, and soon joined the Canadian Air Force in 1957, following her sister's footsteps (Rita). She loved military life and travelling, with an adventurous spirit.
Meeting her soulmate, Raymond (R.I.P.) in 1959, they married (26 years) and raised 4 children, while posted to Germany, Montreal and Trenton Ont.
Along the way, she made many devoted friends, mostly in the Catholic Women's League. Dee was known for her kind heart, ability to listen attentively and had a strong faith. She loved meeting new people and getting to know their life stories. She was a woman of remarkable grace and dignity.
She leaves behind Bernadette, Patrick (Angelina), Suzanne & Michelle (Phil) and her loving grandchildren, Michael (Marie), Stephen (Christina), Joshua (Ariana), Daniel, Marianna and Isabella. She has 2 sweet great grandchildren, Zoe and Jacob, whom she adored.
Her funeral service will be at Christ the King Parish, Courtenay, B.C., on Tuesday June 25th at 1:00 pm.
Thank you to the nurses, care aids and staff at CV Senior's Village, VIHA, and Casa Loma.
A special thank you to Pat Maddocks and the CWL and Father David. Thank you, also to Dr. Sand Russell-Atkinson and Dr. Nishio for their warmth and constant care of our mother.
"A mother holds her children's hands for a while, their hearts forever."
