In Loving Memory ~

Our hearts are broken by the passing of our beloved father and grandfather, Douglas Leroy Paige. Poppa, as he was known to all of us, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2024.

Poppa was born in Kingston Ontario in 1930 to Mildred and William Paige. Poppa enlisted at a young age in the RCAF and was sent to St. John, Quebec for training. Early in his career Poppa was posted to 4F WingBaden-Soellingen where he worked on the Sabre jets that he loved.

It was there that he met and married the love of his life Sheila (Shelly). They returned to CFB Uplands in December 1957 with two children. Two more children were born in Ottawa.

Poppa was posted to CFB Comox in 1966 where he retired in 1974. After retiring from the RCAF he worked as an independent Courier operator.

Poppa was pre-deceased by his parents and his 5 siblings. His wife of 59 years, Sheila, nee Hart, passed in 2015.

He is survived by his 4 children: David Paige, Beverly Huston (Alexander, deceased), Christopher (Tracey) and Tracy Paige. Poppa is survived by 3 grandchildren: Rebekah Favelle (Tim), Jamison Huston (Celeste) and Dayton Paige.

He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren: Abigail, Nathan, Mercedes and Odeda Favelle.

Poppa never got over the loss his wife and kept her close to his heart. We know he is glad to be reunited with her. All of us will miss him as much as we have missed our Mum. We are thankful for the many years of love and laughter that we shared with him.
