Doug passed away peacefully on February 25th, 2024, at the age of 80. He has now reunited with his wife of 55 years, Cheryl. Doug was born February 14th, 1944, in Vancouver, British Columbia to George and Nonie Birnie. Doug is survived by his two sons, Todd and Darren (Alysha) and granddaughter, Everly.

Doug grew up in Victoria, BC. From a young age, Doug was fascinated with anything mechanical, and he loved his hot rods. Doug started his career in the family business with his dad, G.H. Birnie Fuels, before he and Cheryl moved to the Comox Valley to settle down on their farm. They ran many successful businesses in the valley over the years.

Doug was most happy to repair or modify anything in his shop on the farm and he was always up for a chat with anyone he knew or even those he didn't!
