Dorothy Amelia Dubois

Dubois - Dorothy Amelia passed away peacefully on December 10, 2002 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Comox after an extended illness. She was born in Arcola, Saskatchewan, July 25, 1913, the fifth of eight children. After taking nursing in Hamilton, Ontario she trained in mid-wifery in New England. She worked in Norway House, served as the matron of the Wynyard Hospital then ran the outpost hospital in the northern community of Buffalo Narrows. She ended her career in Yorkton where she retired with her sister Rose. Dorothy moved to Nanaimo in 1983 and finally to Comox in 1997 where she and her sister Kathleen were among the original residents of Stevenson Place. Dorothy never married. She was predeceased by sisters Marguerite (Rita) Marshall and Rose, and brothers Edward (Ted) and Walter. She is survived by her sister Kathleen Alger and brothers William and Phillip, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Comox on Saturday, December 21, at 2:00 PM with a reception to follow at Stevenson Place, 1683 Balmoral Avenue in Comox.
