Fraser, Doreen Emily
August 29, 1915 - March 13, 2005
Doreen passed away peacefully in her sleep at Glacier View Lodge in the evening of March 13, 2005. She began her full and happy life on August 29, 1915 in Elstow, Saskatchewan. Doreen was fortunate to have had a healthy and fulfilling life. Throughout her lifetime, Doreen offered support and friendship to her family and the friends she so much enjoyed having around her. To the end, Doreen could be found socializing in the lounge or sitting in the sunshine outside Glacier View, enjoying the company of both friendship and nature.
Raised in rural Saskatchewan, Doreen moved out to the West Coast in 1943 to follow her heart. She married her sweetie, Chas, and raised her family in South Burnaby. Doreen was an active member in the community and belonged to numerous groups, activity clubs and church organizations. We had the good fortune to have Mom move to the Comox Valley in July 2001 to be close to her “Island” family. She especially loved her grandchildren and enjoyed our family gatherings.
Doreen’s loving husband, Chas, passed away in 1985. She is also predeceased by her only sister, Billie, of Nanaimo. Those who are left to live and love and remember are her two sons and their families. Doreen will be missed dearly by son Henley (Phyllis), granddaughter Deb (Bruce) and great-granddaughter Kimberly, all of South Surrey and North Delta. In Comox, “Grandma Doreen” will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by son Dave (Leslie) and grandchildren Barbara and JD. Her friends were numerous and precious to her.
By Doreen’s request, there will be no formal service. A family and friends gathering will be held at Fraser Foreshore Park where Doreen and Chas and their dogs spent many peaceful hours. With great respect, we give heartfelt thanks to the many people who have helped Mom live a peaceful, healthy and happy life over these last years. Thank you, Dr. Rob Silcox and especially the great nurses, staff and administration at Glacier View.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Piercy’s - Mt. Washington Funeral Home.
