January 31, 1935 - January 15, 2023
Youngest daughter of the late Oliver J. Gagnier and Aileen K. (nee Devaney).
Born in Westmount, PQ., Doreen spent her youth travelling the highways and byways of Quebec, Ontario, New York, and Florida. As a young mother she added visits to Vermont and Massachusetts.
Our Mom loved the adventure of a road trip and appreciated the time spent with family and friends. In August of 1977 she drove across Canada to settle in BC and continued exploring neighbourhoods and on to Van. Island, Washington, Oregon and California. These trips were mostly filled with laughter and music but occasionally resulted in a good car story to share over the years.
Retiring to the picturesque communities of the Comox Valley, Doreen continued her genealogical research, connecting stories and names over the generations. She especially enjoyed good friendships over these years.
When her health suddenly changed in the summer of 2022; a sudden Mesothelioma diagnoses, Chilliwack's Cascade Hospice became home, surrounded and cared for by her children, grandchildren, family, friends and Hospice's generous staff and volunteers.
Predeceased by her cherished siblings Bob (J.R. Gagnier), Betty (M.E.B. Wickham) and Hughie (H.K. Gagnier).
Our Mom is lovingly remembered by her children, Coletta (Stephen) Holmes of Chilliwack, BC., Daniel (Kimberley) O'Keefe of Port Angeles, WA. and Aileen O'Keefe of qathet, Powell River. BC.
Doren was Grandee to Leah, Vanessa and Justin (Lexie, Finley, Benson), Jake and Camilla, Deanna and Garrett (Hansley, Nova), Cullen and Mariah, Tim and Olivia (Greyson, Cayden) and a sister-in-law to Mrs. M. Wellner Gagnier, Mrs. Julie Clougher and Sr. Joan O'Keefe, S.C.
Doreen will be remembered with love including her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in both Canada and the USA.
She held her faith in her heart throughout all the trials and joys of life and understood that God would hold her and give her strength when she did not feel strong.
