In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Joseph Dalton announces his passing on the evening of March 19, 2023.
A devoted husband and loving father, Joe is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Suzanne Dalton; daughters Angela Scarff of Abbotsford, B.C., and Lisa Gardiner (Sam) of Dawson Creek, B.C.; grandchildren Alexander, Stephanie, Brittany, Jessica, Ashley, and Colin; and great-grandchildren Connor, Sean, and Joshua.
Predeceased by his parents, Lillian Esther Brown and Joseph Dalton, as well as his brother Charles Jere Dalton "Jere" (Sherry), and sister Doreen Helen Dalton "Helen".
Joe is survived and will be greatly missed by siblings Mary Davina Harker "Devy" of Dawson City, Hannah Gail Mitchell "Gail" of Ontario, Gloria Anne Parks (Doug) of Cumberland, B.C., Donna Leigh Johansen of Courtenay, B.C., and Lynne Heather James (Mike) of Comox; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Born in Garden Bay on the Sunshine Coast, and spending most of his adult life on Vancouver Island, Joe developed a love for the water. Often found fishing or prawning on their boat, Joe and Suzanne loved to share their "happy place" with friends and family in the coastal waters of The Georgia Strait.
Throughout Joe's life, he followed many paths, from forestry to long-haul driving, his life brought many wonderful people and great stories to be shared - known for his humour and quick wit, you would often find people gathered and laughing wherever he went.
"I cannot speak, but I can listen. I cannot be seen, but I can be heard. So as you stand upon a shore gazing at the sea, remember me"
Suzanne would like to express her heartfelt thanks to everyone who offered support during the difficult time leading up to and following Joe's passing. The family has been showered with love and support from immediate family, extended family in Deep Bay, and many friends from far and wide.
A private family gathering to celebrate Joe will be held at a later date.
