Deines, Dixie Lynn

May 5, 1948 - Feb 4, 2005

“She who must be obeyed”

and she was!

Passed suddenly without notice in her own home on February 4, 2005. Born in Calgary and a resident of the Comox Valley since 1975. Predeceased by her father Lloyd Deines. She leaves behind her mother Kay; sisters: Heather Deines and Gail Gable; brothers: Brian (Delina) Deines, Lyle (Pam) Deines and Lynden Deines. Her most cherished daughter Carmen Deines (Brandy Kniert) and beloved granddaughter Eilis Deines Kniert. Last but not least her long time companion and friend Ernie Hardy and all the Hardy’s; her second family especially Ettie. Dixie wore many hats. She was an experienced Deckhand, Hatchery definer, Chef, Horse logger, Welder, Caregiver, Mother, and her best job yet was as Grammy to Eilis. Dixie fed and nurtured her family, friends and garden with such unconditional love and humor. She was happiest when her hands were in the soil or when walking in the woods looking for mushrooms or twisted wood. Of her favorite pass times, her most valued of all was the last eight months spent with Eilis. Not being a lover of the winter months Eilis brought her joy and light. Dixie was best know for so-o-o many things.
