In loving memory ~

There is a good chance that if you played youth sports in the Comox Valley in the 1980s and 1990s, the face in this photograph is familiar to you and had a positive impact on your life. Coach Dave was a constant in those decades, encouraging his players in soccer, fastball and basketball at all levels and cheering on his sons at Cumberland Junior, GP Vanier and from the bleachers at Lewis Park. He even built the backstop and dugout for the Royston Fastball League, with his own hands in the 1980s - that's the kind of person he was. Dave taught his players that sport was a metaphor for life - so you always played fair, with class and integrity, and that win or lose, the lesson was in the act of how you played the game, not the score at the end.

Dave is survived by his wife Mich, sons Kinji (Laura) and Tak (Renee), and grandkids Tristan, Emerson, Celine and David - who likes to be called Davie.
