Darlene BECKY Lon Davies
August 23 1956-July 5, 2004
Becky died at 5:19a.m. Monday in her garden room. Beloved friends and family sent her on her way to a chorus of “We love you”.
Becky was never defeated. She faced her challenges with strength and courage. She banned tears and sadness and kept us hopping to match her humour.
Becky was born in the valley and spent the bulk of her life here aside from a brief sojourn in Mexico. The last five years she found a second home, life and last and favorite love, in Dawson City, Yukon.
When her boss and co-workers there asked what they could send her, her tongue-in-cheek answer was, “A piece of the universe”.
Becky is now a star! The Cassiopeia Constellation, Milky Way Galaxy RA 1h 57m D 73’ 17’ is now designated to the name BECKY DAVIES by the International Star Registry. The rest of her wish list fulfilled was enjoyed lustily and tipsily while sitting in her special wheelchair looking at her Northern Lights. The stream of messages, pictures and gifts from the folks in Dawson was a delight.
DODGE SOUTH SALUTES DODGE NORTH.
Becky lived her very interesting life on her terms. It was enriched by her ability to hold friends near and dear, new and old, overlooking their flaws as they overlooked hers.
She will be remembered in sorrow for our loss and with joy for the experience of having her in our lives.
Becky was predeceased by brother Bob (Mort) and her devoted dog Watse. She is survived by partner Gary, her loving parents, Ron and Ina, sister Lindy (Lorne), brother Shane, nephew Tysen, so many many dear friends, old lovers and partners, lots of cousins, aunts Sis and Evelyn and uncles Doug and John.
The family welcomes you to an open house at 3559 Royston Road from 1:00-3:00 July 10th.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Victoria Hospice, Richmond Pavilion, 1952 Bay Street, Victoria, B.C. V8R 1J8 or your local Hospice Society. They do such wonderful work and should have everyones support. Thank you.
