February 7, 1935 - March 7, 2024
In Loving Memory ~
Dale Brian Webb, 89, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2024 with his family and several friends by his side.
He is survived by his children Kelly and Chris (Marilyn) and grandchildren Jeremy, Alexandra and Cassie (Scott) and great granddaughter Elyza.
Dale was born February 7, 1935 in East Angus, Quebec, the only child of Reg and Myrtle Webb. Dale enjoyed a childhood of hunting, fishing and canoeing on the family farm. His teen years were divided between working on St. Lawrence passenger ships, air cadet training at Petawawa and joining the 7th/11th Hussars.
In 1954 he joined the RCAF and was sent to 408 sqn in Rockcliffe, Ontario where he spent two summers mapping the north, and performing supply drops from CC-129 Douglas Dakota and Lancaster aircraft.
When his C.O. learned Dale had been taking flying lessons, he assigned him to an aircrew position where he spent ten months training on Harvard's and T33 jets, eventually becoming an air traffic controller.
His military career took him and his family to Goose Bay, Moose Jaw, Bagotville and eventually to his final and most desired posting - the Comox Valley.
He loved the Valley; it provided the perfect outdoor playground for his love of hunting, hiking, fishing, skiing, and jogging. He became a ski instructor, volunteered for Search and Rescue, ran a salt water guide boat and worked at Juvenile Corrections in Campbell River.
He enjoyed being a life member of the Oyster River Enhancement Society where he met many amazing people who became great friends.
Dale was interested in many activities; he was an amazing painter, accomplished guitar player, avid gardener and masterful cook. Anybody who attended his dinner parties knew he was a host among hosts.
He will be missed by a cadre of people who were very close to him, true friends indeed.
A special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Comox Valley Hospital, and the dedicated folk at Casa Loma for their exceptional care.
Rest easy Dad, you are loved
and will be missed by your family.
