Long-time pioneer of the Comox Valley, Cyril Frederick Burns passed away October 28, 2005 at the age of 102 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 25, 1903 and lived his entire life in Courtenay. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 66 years, Ina Burns. He is survived by three children: Lawrence (Margaret) Burns of Courtenay, Janet Steele of Comox, and Marg Boardman of Coquitlam. “Papa” was grandfather to 7: Wendy Steele, Sherry Ells, Darlaine (Burl) Jantzen, Val Wright, Randy (Deb) Steele, Rick Boardman and Heather Burns; great-grandfather to 9: Rachel, Stuart, Johanna & Erick Jantzen; Shane Ells; Clayton & Courtney Wright; Christy and Aaron Steele; and uncle to Lorraine Watkinson. A dedicated leader in the Christian community and pioneer in the Valley’s automotive business, he was a faithful friend and neighbour to many and will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched.
Celebration of Life will be held Friday, November 4, 2005 at 2 pm at the Courtenay Foursquare Church (1640 Burgess Rd.) with a private family burial preceding. Peter Rabey officiating.
