Frederickson, Constance Winifred
(Connie)
With sadness, the Frederickson family wishes to announce the passing of their beloved Mum, aged 81 years, at the Cumberland Lodge on December 23rd, 2004.
She is predeceased by her parents of Burnt Oak, Edgeware, in England and her husband of 57 years, Fred Frederickson. Connie is survived by her 5 sons, in order — Keith (Celeste), Dave (Gail), Rob, Joe and Charlie. Also numerous grandchildren, and cousins in England.
Connie Spence was born on December 9th, 1923, in the Islington area of London. Only child of Bob and Gertrude Spence, she was raised and went to school in Millhill County, northwest of London.
After graduation she worked as a bank teller downtown. It was during this time that she met Bert (Fred) Lincoln Frederickson of Qualicum, B.C. who was at the time on furlow from His Majesty’s Service overseas. They courted, then married on December 5th, 1943. After the war Fred preceeded her back to B.C., and she joined him by ship and rail accompanied by their first-born son in late 1946. She was to live and work from that time till the present in the Comox Valley. Our Mum enjoyed homemaking as much as travelling, camping and walking her dog — nor was she ever without a book to read. She was bright and lucid till the last.
The family would like to extend thanks to Dr. Musgrave and gratitude to the staff of St. Joseph’s and the Cumberland Lodge, whose care and concern was wonderful and helped a great deal.
By request, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, friends are welcomed to make a donation to the charity of their choice, and join with the family in the memory of Connie and her passing. Our thanks to one and all.
Peace be with you Mum,
on your journey.
We’ll miss you.
